I am trained as an engineer but I never got to practise my trade for a single day of my life. Isn’t it strange that often what we study do not end up what we do for a living? Anyway, one thing I learnt in physics is momentum. Momentum = mass x velocity. Simply said, motion is needed to move things. WorldVentures has keep me moving fast and in a fun way. This time I would be in Hong Kong for a dreamtrip and to attend another epic conference called “Momentum“.
I love this magnificent bridge. I heard it is one of the longest suspension bridge in Asia (if not the longest). Hong Kong has so many engineering marvels. Amazing.
Checked in and ready to take a look at Hong Kong with my friends. We wanted to go to our W0rldVentures office in Hong Kong to take a look first.
As of 2015, WorldVentures is officially opened in 28 countries around the world (i.e. we have offices in these 28 countries). We have 5 countries opened in Asia Pacific and Hong Kong is one of them! (The rest of the countries in Asia Pacific are Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Australia. My home country Singapore was the first country in APAC to be officially opened. So proud of Singapore!).
Hong Kong is like a city which never sleeps…exciting, wild, restless…and ever so bright. Truly the Pearl of the Orient.
I love this place. I think it’s called the avenue of the stars. Everyone is a star here. The reflections of the lights from the buildings on the water were just beautiful. You should be here!
Got souvenirs for my family. I am sure that they will like it. I was told that “Jenny Bakery” cookies are good so i bought two small boxes. (PS: look out for authentic ones. Some people are peddling their cookies under this brand. Good luck!)
So that’s my first day and night in Hong Kong. Tomorrow would be a day of land tour, tim sum and a big welcome dinner at night. Look forward!
First, we were out on a boat ride. This boat was like the one you would see in a Hong Kong movie. Some people still live on the boat..hence called the boat-people.
Next, we head off for Stanley Market.
Stanley Market (赤柱市集) is a street market in Stanley on Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The street is a typical example of a traditional old open-air market in Hong Kong and has since become a major tourist attraction, well known for its bargains. Many of the stalls or shops in Stanley Market sell Hong Kong souvenirs as well as clothing – particularly silk garments and traditional Chinese dress – toys, ornaments, luggage, souvenirs, paintings, and Chinese arts and crafts.
Nice walk along the street in Stanley Market. A perfect set to film the next Hong Kong action movie. Coming up next, we were going to the highest mountain on Hong Kong island.
Victoria Peak (太平山, or previously 扯旗山) is a mountain in the western half of Hong Kong Island. It is also known as Mount Austin, and locally as The Peak. With an elevation of 552 m (1,811 ft), it is the highest mountain on Hong Kong island, ranked 31 in terms of elevation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
If a single image could encapsulate Hong Kong, it would be the panorama view from Victoria Peak.
With Jason, my travel buddy for this trip. This guy is a salsa guy…he comes alive @ night. (I got to see his true side during the evening’s welcome dinner). He rocks!
It’s lunch time! One cannot say he has come to Hong Kong without giving a go at Hong Kong’s Tim Sum.
Dim sum (点心) is a style of Cantonese cuisine prepared as small bite-sized portions of food traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. Dim sum is also well known for the unique way it is served in some restaurants, whereby fully cooked and ready-to-serve dim sum dishes are carted around the restaurant for customers to choose their orders while seated at their tables.
After lunch, we went back to our hotel to rest before going for the finale of the day – the dreamtrip welcome dinner! This would be the biggest welcome dinner I had ever attended.
Some people turned up in a fanfare…in their national costumes!!!
I love the attention to details by WorldVentures, even down to our culinary.
I love the band, the music and watching people just having fun. Life should be happy. Watch the video to feel the energy in the room!
So that was our night of joy and the mega welcome dinner concluded our first day in Hong Kong. The next 2 days of training would be truly awesome. 10,000 of us would congregate at Asia World Expo at Lantau to learn from the best of the best in WorldVentures. Let’s rock Asia!
The gentleman in grey sweatshirt is Anton Du Preez. He is a great guy who came all the way from South Africa to catch the happenings in Asia, so that he can bring it back to South Africa to inspire his team. He used to a full time financial advisor but definitely a full time traveller with WorldVentures, making a living…LIVING. I did a 2 minutes interview with him. Hear why he joined WorldVentures and how his life has changed.
Checked in as VIP. Ready to rock!!
10.000 people in the house! There’s nothing quite like this in Asia. Watch the below video and feel our excitement!
Wayne Nugent, WorldVentures Co-founder and Chief Visionary Officer, flew all the way from Dallas to speak to us. He quoted one of my favourites quotes by Steve Jobs.
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” – Steve Jobs, ex-CEO Apple Inc
Wayne has already seen WorldVentures 10 to 20 years future in his mind and in his imagination. I like what he said below…
Imagine seeing yourself at different places in the world in virtual reality. This is our future and we are just beginning.
(fast forward to 2016, which is one year later, WorldVentures would introduce WorldVentures Goggles and Smartcard)
I am so proud to be in a company that is so fun, forward-looking and disruptive! I love it. Are you enjoying what you are seeing and something in you says “i wanna to be part of this?”? You can be part of this incredible story. Contact me. I love to hear from you.
Wayne once said that “the day you joined WorldVentures would be her worst day”. Because WorldVentures is always improving and adding value to her members. Awesome!
I love this couple who’s on my team. They are JX and Glynis. They are already very successful in the real estate industry before seeing WorldVentures. However, they came all the way from Singapore to Hong Kong to see it for themselves. They caught the vision of WorldVentures at Momentum and understood what we are all about. Since then, they are all-in to build their future with WorldVentures. They are also helping many people in their team to create more fun, freedom and fulfilment through this amazing platform. Thank you JX and Glynis for your commitment, leadership and love. God bless you to live your dreams as you help others to find theirs too.
I am ever so grateful for my small team who trusted me from the beginning. It’s a joy to lead each and everyone of them. I am so blessed and thankful to have their support and love.
Every great story, journey and achievement starts small. Don’t give up! If you don’t give up, you will write an incredible life story, leave a legacy and make the world a better place.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin” (Zech. 4:10, NLT)”
(as of feb 2016…my team has grown beyond 300 members. This is because of great teamwork, great training and definitely the great fun we had together)
I found a wonderful gift on the bed of my hotel room on the last day of my trip.
Take a closer look..especially the inscription on the wine glass….
Yes, that’s my name on the wine glass. Something special for platinum members. Thank you WorldVentures 🙂
It’s time to say goodbye to Hong Kong. I had learnt so much here, had so much fun and made so many new friends. I am grateful to Jesus for the joy that He’s put into my heart.
New adventures and challenges awaits me. I am getting more and more excited. Can’t wait to tell more people about what I have seen, heard and experienced.
Hope you have enjoyed this post. Feel free to leave me your comments below or contact me. I would love to answer any question you have. God bless you!
